Hello Families! My name is Kristi Rice. I have been teaching at Hope Elementary since 2015. I have my bachelor's of science degree in Elementary Education and Reading Instruction from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. I am currently working on my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction through Western Governor's University.
In the past, I have worked writing curriculum for the state of Indiana for an anti-bullying campaign and for the C.A.R.E and R.E.S.P.E.C.T grants. I have also worked for the government to preserve antique documents. I have taught 4th and 5th grades and also homeschooled my own children while they were elementary age. My passion is teaching and showing children how to become lifelong learners.
I am married to Joel and we have two children. Our oldest, Olivia, is 21 and is a cosmetologist. Our son, Ethan, is 20 and is a student at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky where he is studying to be a pastor. I am also the proud aunt of 17 nieces and nephews.
In our spare time, my husband and I have a hobby farm. We have 5 goats, 4 cats (barn), and one sweet dog, Bonnie. We active in our local church. In our spare time we garden, read, spend time with family, and generally explore.
I am more than excited to meet each one of you and get to know you! I cannot wait to begin our incredible new school year!
